Archive Gallery - A Selection of Past Creations
I have been seriously creating art since the 1990s, although it has been a driving force my entire life. This gallery is almost a pictorial history of my past. I have included a selection of my previous creations from the late 90s onwards. Some of these designs remain popular and are still available as prints in my shop but if you see anything you would like that is not currently listed or you would like to commission me then please contact me.
Sky Dancing - 1997
When I was in my 20s I had an obsession with flying. Looking back, this was clearly my shamanic spirit longing to be free. I painted several flying maidens. This was always my favourite. It captured a moment in my life. Who doesn't want to fly free? I know I do. This illustration appeared on the cover of the Pagan Federations magazine, Pagan Dawn in Spring 1999.
Earth Woman - 1998
Inspiration for this illustration came whilst out on one of my many walks with my dog around the fen-edge fields of the village in Cambridgeshire that I grew up in. I could see the elemental earth woman pushing up from the earth below, giving nourishing life to the trees and crops above.
Midnight Flight - 1997
It's magic! What more do I need to say?
Turmoil - 1998
Another sky maiden but this time not flying but falling, clutching for the golden threads hanging from the brooding clouds, desperately trying to save herself. Very strong emotion was the impetus for this illustration at a time in my life where I was quite literally in 'turmoil'.
Hedgewitch - 1999
An old pathway bordered by a medieval hedgerow runs through my parent's Cambridgeshire farm. I used to often walk along it at twilight and was captivated by the intricate patterns of the hedgerow against the darkening sky. Owls and hares abound along the pathway and these seemed to be natural companions for a Hedgewitch.
The Spirit of Herne - 2004
The Spirit of Herne resides over this earthly scene, based, as it is, on an ancient stone wall in a Cornish field, home to the stone circle known as the Merry Maidens. The young man makes sweet music with his flute while at his feet grow herbs with pagan associations: chamomile, bistort, yarrow and blackberry.
The Ice Princess - 2005
I created this as a Yule card to give at the midwinter festival. This ice princess is a fay maid, surrounded by the traditional greenery of the Yule season. I was inspired by Eastern European folklore.
The Lord of the Forest - 2006
Yes, I am Pagan! I'm always hoping to meet the Horned God whilst I am out walking in the woods. Maybe one day? In the dark and shadowy depths of the forest, you unexpectedly meet him, the Lord of the forest, accompanied by his elven warrior consorts. Protective, militant, master of his realm, he stands before you now. What will you do?
Amanita Muscaria (Working Title) - 2011
Isn't there something so wonderfully magical and intriguing about Fly Agaric toadstools. They have been used for years to alter the consciousness and reach other realms. This little elemental came to me to be painted.
